Kamal Tayara
Managing Partner
Mr. El-Tayara is the Founder and Managing Partner of KCP Capital, a Dubai-based merchant bank, and has over 15 years of experience working in the investment banking and financial transactions arena in the Middle East, Russia and other markets.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. El-Tayara was with investment banks Merrill Lynch and Salomon Smith Barney. In early 2003, he managed the corporate finance initiatives of MBC Group, MENA’s largest media company, where he participated in the set up of Alarabiya News Channel, for which he acted as CFO. Mr. El-Tayara also set up the Swiss EFG Bank in Dubai, for which he acted as the Dubai Head. Mr. El-Tayara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut ( With Distinction) and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. Mr. El-Tayara is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
Rabih El-Kalach
Managing Director
Rabih has more than 12 years of experience working in the accounting, auditing, tax and advisory fields in the Middle East working for big four Audit firms Ernst & Young and Deloitte & Touche Tohmatsu. In his most recent role before joining KCP Capital he was a senior auditor heading & orienting a team of more than seven junior staff at Deloitte, handling a well diversified portfolio (investment, real estate, banking, contracting & trading companies), assisting in tailoring compliance and audit programs, as well as preparing & issuing full audited financial reports. In 2003, Rabih set up the books as well as designed and prepared the monthly reports along with their respective analysis schedules for the leading Al-Arabiya News Channel in which he reported directly to the CFO. Most recently, Rabih has headed the finance function, handling escrow management services and providing finance related consulting services as well as participating on selective deal structuring and placement for KCP Capital. Rabih holds a business administration degree from the American University of Beirut (AUB).
Roderik van der Graaf
Managing Director
Prior to joining KCP to head its Hong Kong office, Roderik was a partner at a private equity fund focusing on Mongolia. Roderik started his career in finance in 1997 at Paribas developing bond trading applications. He then became an equity derivatives trader at Deutsche Bank and over the next 10 years he traded equity and index options on European, US and Asian markets at HSBC, Rabobank and Bear Stearns. His roles included both client facing and proprietary trading. In 2008, Roderik joined LIM Advisors, a multi-strategy hedge fund, as Portfolio Manager to setup and manage a pan-Asia volatility strategy. He subsequently became Head of Trading at major equity options market-making firm All Options. Roderik holds a B.Eng. In Aerospace Engineering (University of Hertfordshire) and a MSc. in Information Technology (Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London). He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and speaks French, German, English, Dutch, conversational Arabic and recently took up Cantonese and Mongolian.
Juan Carlos Estevez
Director
Prior to joining KCP Capital, Juan Carlos was General Manager for Latin America at JumpTV, a leading broadcaster of live and on-demand sports and international television over the Internet. Prior to JumpTV, Juan Carlos was a partner of Recognition Group (since re-named KIT Capital Partners), a New York and Dubai-based private equity firm investing in special situations, technology and new media companies.
Mr. Estevez also worked with Credit Suisse First Boston’s Private Equity Group based in New York, where he analyzed and executed principal investment opportunities of privately held and publicly traded companies in Latin America, as well as with Lehman Brothers and the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group.
Juan Carlos holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BS/BA from American University.
Krishnan Vaidyanathan
Director
Mr. Krishnan Vaidyanathan has around 12 years of experience in US, Europe, Middle East and Asia
For the past 2 years, Krishnan has advised private equity backed portfolio companies in outsourcing, hospitality and agri sectors in West, Central and East Africa on growth strategy, marketing and operational improvement
Prior to this, Krishnan advised the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Saudi Arabia on the set up of the country’s consumer and competition protection authorities. He has also worked at The Boston Consulting Group’s London, Stockholm and New York offices where he worked on cost reduction, strategy formulation, due diligence, organization design and sales force improvement
Krishnan’s experience of sectors includes retail, consumer goods, mining, agriculture, hospitality, telecom and the public sector
Previous roles include engineering and product management roles at Nokia and strategy and M&A roles at Symbian
Mr. Vaidyanathan holds an MBA from INSEAD business school in France and a Bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Zein Balhas
Director
Zein has more than 8 years of experience working in the accounting, auditing, tax and consulting fields. He also has more than 4 years of experience in valuation services in the Middle East. He is the founder of Al-Mukhtar for Accounting and Auditing, a Beirut based firm specialized in financial, tax and legal consultancy. He is also the co-founder and the managing partner of the Institute for Financial Analysts (IFA) a firm specializing in preparatory courses and seminars for professional designations.
Currently, IFA is offering preparatory courses for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA(r)), Financial Risk Manager (FRM(r)), and Certified Valuation Advisor (CVA(r)) in Beirut, Kuwait, UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar. Zein is also a lecturer at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and at the Lebanese American University (LAU). Most recently, Zein has been handling valuation services and provides finance related consulting services as well as participating on selective deal structuring and placement at MNA Partners. Zein holds a business administration degree and an MBA from the Lebanese American University and he is a CFA (chartered financial analyst) charter holder. He also holds the CVA (Certified Valuation Analyst) designation.
Julie Saragoza

Have more than 6 years working experience in Dubai, U.A.E. as an Accountant and Administrative Officer in one of the well established and respectable Engineering Consultancy and one of the leading Biota Group Company that specialized in providing more than 180,000 items for main lines of medical and laboratory equipment across Middle East, North Africa and Europe.
Graduated from foremost academic Catholic Church in the Philippines with a Degree of Bachelor in Science in Accountancy and currently studying for the Masters Degree in Business Administration.
